Our next concerts (Click here for tickets)

The Oxford University Sinfonietta (the associated chamber orchestra of OUO) presents a beautifully varied programme for its Trinity Term 2025 concert. The evening begins by showcasing the university’s compositional talent with the winner of this year’s student composition competition before Scottish composer Thea Musgrave’s The Seasons, inspired by the paintings of artists, from Piero di Cosimo to Picaso. The second half takes us into the countryside for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, his Pastoral Symphony. Be sure not to miss this thrilling evening of chamber orchestra repertoire at 8:00PM on Friday the 6th of June at Christ Church Cathedral.

Details of next season's concerts in the new academic year will be released soon, keep an eye on the website to stay up to date or sign up for our mailing list

Tonight's concert at The Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford University Orchestra and conductor Daniel Hogan present:
An Evening of Orchestral Dances.

Young conductor Daniel Hogan joins OUO in an evening of orchestral dances, featuring as its main item Rachmaninoff’s electrifying final masterpiece, the Symphonic Dances. Entirely written in the United States, this work evokes a ghostly nostalgia of the composer’s Russian homeland, saturated with ecclesiastical chants such as the Dies irae, and enigmatic retrospections on his earlier works – the First Symphony and All-Night Vigil. John Adams’ captivating The Chairman Dances, an “outtake” from his first opera Nixon in China portraying Chairman and Madame Mao’s exuberant foxtrot, will open the concert, alongside the Dance Suite from Ginastera’s Estancia, a lively ballet – inspired by the epic Martin Fierro by José Hernández – saturated with spirited Argentinian rhythms.
