We are delighted to announce that award-winning international pianist Lilya Zilberstein joins OUO for our Hilary Term concert as well as holding a masterclass for student pianists.

Lilya Zilberstein established her international career after winning the Busoni Competition in Bolzano in 1987. Lilya emigrated to Germany in 1990 and formed a long term collaboration with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Claudio Abbado. She has performed cand recorded with many famous international orchestras and conductors, With her duo partner Martha Argerich she celebrated her twenty-five-year anniversary on the stage in 2024. In August 1998, she was awarded the ”Accademia Musicale Chigiana” prize in Siena. From 2009 till 2013, she was Guest Professor at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg. Since 2014, she has been Professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Lilya will give masterclass and perform with the participants in a recital on Thursday 12th February at the Jacqueline Du Pre building St Hilda’s College. The masterclass and recital are kindly supported by St Hilda’s College, Balliol College Music Society and the Faculty of Music, Oxford University.

Lilya will be joining Oxford University Orchestra, and conductor Peter Stark, to play Prokofiev’s 3rd Piano Concerto at the Sheldonian Theatre on Saturday 14th February, 7.30pm.
